Hi Folks,

Saturday is going to be a warm day and several vendors (new and old) asked that we put on one last event for the year!  This grass roots effort certainly bodes very well for the coming Farm Market season.  Come on out to get some produce, wines, prepared Mediterranean delicacies, healthy desserts, awesome salsas and much more.  As always, the market is on the veranda of Porches Cafe in the beautiful River Bluffs community, 1030 Chair Road, Castle Hayne, 28429, from 10am to 2pm.  Be sure to step inside Porches Cafe and grab a great lunch from Chef Erin.  Here’s some information on our vendors below.

Turner Family Farms – For those new to the River Bluffs Farm Market, Turner Family Farms operates the 6 acre onsite farm at River Bluffs as well as the farmer’s market.  We work together with the developers of this beautiful new community on the river, to not only bring fresh produce to the River Bluff’s residents, but also to offer an awesome delivered subscription produce box (CSA) to everyone in the greater Wilmington area.  This last Saturday of the year 2018, we will have a plethora of fresh greens, root vegetables, and even some of the last tomatoes from the high tunnel.  You can also check out our CSA box for yourselves and sign up right there at the market.

Feast for the Gods – Chefs Alexis and Betsy Fouros are our mainstay at the River Bluffs Farm Market offering Greek and Mediterranean delicacies every week.  They always have their famous spice rubs and cookbooks, but Alexis is bringing some special treats for Pre-New Year’s market, including: duck liver pate with truffles, cognac duck mousse, chorizo and Italian sausages, spanikopita, baklava, and more.  Man, that will all sounds like it would go great with a glass of champagne on New Year’s Eve, for sure!

Cravings – Charlotte Evans is going to be with us again with her fantastic healthy cookies, confections, and baked goodies.  She creates the most amazing vegan and gluten free snacks with only the purest local ingredients.  Check out the mouth watering items on her website.  Turner Family Farms’ CSA subscribers will be getting some of Charlotte’s artisan offerings in next week’s box if Farmer Steve doesn’t pilfer them all.

Cape Fear Pirate Candy –  Travis Moore’s offerings such as Candied Habanero Bacon Salsa and Honey Kissed Candied Banana Peppers are truly unique and addictive.  The company has been in the local news and attends several of the other farmer’s markets in the area.  Travis isn’t just an exceptional salsa maker, he’s a talented and creative artist as well, and he’s bringing some of his metalworking pieces that are truly unique.

Vineyards on the Scuppernong – Sarah Barbee is a new to the River Bluffs Farm Market.  We met her at the Poplar Grove Plantation’s Merry Little Christmas Festival.  In addition to the muscadine wines famous in Eastern North Carolina, Sara offers some exceptional dry wines as well.  I tried a terrific Prosecco at the Poplar Grove event which would be great to take home for New Year’s Eve.

Bonardi-Allen Glass Art – Lauren Bonardi- Allen is an exceptional art-glass maker who has been featured at the Cameron Art Museum.

The PVC Bird Lady  – Julie is a Southport resident that creates clever and imaginative bird forms out of PVC.  They are so unique that you just have to come see them for yourself at the market.
