It looks like this we will have more vendors than ever this Saturday, September 8th, from 10 am to 2 pm. Turner Family Farms will be there with all the great end of summer produce and flowers. To go along with their usual fantastic fare of spanakopita, baklava, tomato tarts, and spice rubs, Chef Alexis of Feast for the Gods will be grilling his famous Mediterranean sausages and chorizo for sampling. We have another new vendor, Charlotte Evans, of Cravings – The Healthy Fix. Charlotte offers all-natural vegan and gluten free cookies and brownies that are out of this world. One benefit to organizing this market is that I have to sample everything. Check out more information on all the vendors below.
First, I have a mea culpa to explain. I misspelled Will Kinzie two weeks ago. Will is an exceptional local artist who paints in oils, watercolors and charcoals using otherworldly perspectives. His works are usually of local landscapes and subjects, and while some may want to define the genres as surreal or impressionist, I think his “genre,” like a great guitarist’s tone, is just authentic to his own feel and vision. That’s the best way I can explain it. He has many unique paintings and artworks right there at the market, but he also accepts commissions. Please check out his Facebook page (click on his name above) and come see him at our market this Saturday.
Our new vendor, Cravings, will round out meal shopping with healthy dessert and snack items. Check out Charlotte’s website to see her offerings – beautiful vegan and gluten free fresh-baked goods. You can find Cravings’ offerings online and at the best specialty markets and coffee shops in Wilmington. We are fortunate to have her at the River Bluffs Farm Market now, too.
Last Saturday was the first time we had Travis Moore of Cape Fear Pirate Candy. I have to confess that I ate a whole jar of Candied Banana Peppers and a whole jar of Bacon Salsa this week – again under the “must test taste” rule. Awesome stuff. Travis will be with us this Saturday as well.
Dandy Andy’s Organics will be returning with a variety of hemp and CBD products for sale, including; lotions, scrubs, salves and bath bombs. Dandy Andy’s Organics, LLC was started in 2017 by Jenn and Andrew Smith and became certified industrial hemp growers in 2018 through the North Carolina Industrial Hemp Pilot Program. They are farmers and purveyors of hemp and CBD, currently growing in Castle Hayne, NC just up the street from River Bluffs.
Noni Bacca Winery is last but definitely not least. Ken can’t be here this week, but, we have positioned the wines between Farmer Steve and Chef Alexis, so you know there is going to be some horseplay, oenological hijinks, culinary conversations, and interesting wine pairings!!
Thanks Folks, See you at the market!
