The expanded market last week was a rousing success and the busiest I’ve ever seen the River Bluffs Farm Market. It’s such a beautiful, relaxed setting, and, if you’re hungry, you can get some of Chef Erin’s exceptional lunch dishes right there at Porches Cafe. You don’t have to worry about parking, traffic, or downtown crowds. As always, the market is from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on the veranda beside Porches Cafe, inside the beautiful River Bluffs community, 1030 Chair Road, Castle Hayne, NC, 28429.
This Saturday, Sept. 1st, we are adding a new vendor, Travis Moore, of Cape Fear Pirate Candy. Their offerings such as Candied Habanero Bacon Salsa and Honey Kissed Candied Banana Peppers are truly unique and addictive. The company has been in the local news and attends several of the other farmer’s markets in the area. We are happy to bring this up and coming Wilmington area entrepreneur to the River Bluffs Farm Market.
Our great friends and permanent market members,Betsy and Alexis, of Feast for the Gods will have some terrific specialty sausages this week (chorizo, italian, and french) as well as their perennial favorites like baklava, spanikopita, and their spice rubs.
Our wonderful wine vendor, Noni Bacca will be there, too. I found out last week that Noni Bacca teaches people to blend their own wines, bottle them, and labels them as you like. What an amazing gift that would be to your friends and family or to take to as a dinner guest sometime. Very cool!
Turner Family Farms will be bringing some nice bouquets from our friends up the street at Castle Hayne Farms. Mark Hommes is usually reluctant to send the flowers out in this heat to the farmer’s markets, but he knows we have a nice cool setting under the veranda at the River Bluffs Farm Market. If you have time, check out our post on visiting Mark’s amazing facility. We look forward to seeing you!
